Our volunteering this week was at the same school as last week. We finished painting the inside classrooms and moved onto the outside, giving the walls and columns a new coat of paint to tidy them up. The school children even lent a hand!
We all spent our final weekend in Ubud with our German friend Louis from volunteering. We travelled down Friday night and had dinner in Ubud at a restaurant called Taco Casa (very Balinese we know!).
Our Saturday activity was white water rafting down the Ayung River. We got to admire the incredibly expensive riverside hotels and be sad at how we could never afford to stay there! The views as we floated (more like crashed) down the river were insane (sadly no pictures though as we like our phones nice and dry!). The rest of the day we just chilled at home and walked into town for food (we had burgers, again not very Balinese!).
On Sunday we had a jam packed day of sightseeing. We got our favourite Lovina Taxi Man (legend) to give us an Ubud tour, before taking Tom and Sam back to the hostel in Lovina. The tour included a rice terrace, three temples and two waterfalls (Charis was relieved there was no jumping this time).
Charis and I decided to have a long weekend and stayed in Ubud an extra night and met Louis (who stayed in a hostel in town) for drinks Sunday night. A slightly tipsy Charis (the most annoying variety of the species) insisted on getting cotton candy for dessert.
Our Monday itinerary just involved a relaxed morning in our accommodation (a very cool eco cottage) and then a wander into town to explore the Ubud Palace and Market. We met Louis again for lunch and then got picked up by Lovina Taxi Man who took us to a waterfall on our way back to the hostel in Lovina (again no jumping off this one but we did have a very cold dip).
We have one more week of volunteering and then we head to Denpasar for our mammoth journey home again, ready to start lectures 9am on Monday morning (we love it)!
