The programme this week involved sanding and painting again! Charis magically got salmonella just in time to avoid it (typical). She’s on the mend now (I guess that’s a good thing). I feel like the remaining three in our group have now become experts in house renovation and will be applying for jobs shortly (any money is good money… seriously, I’m poor). Fortunately, for the less artistic people in the group (me), just a base colour is required this time since it’s a primary school; cartoons are unnecessary. We will be back next week to complete the job (Charis can’t get out of it forever).
This weekend Charis and I met up with Dora and Dan again (just can’t get rid of them), this time for a chilled weekend in the North West of Bali. We stayed in the National Park in a typical Balinese dwelling with an outside ensuite! Our Saturday activity was snorkelling around Menjangan Island (still can’t say it correctly) where Dan yet again triumphed over his fear of open water (go Dan)! We got to see lots of live coral and even a clownfish and puffer fish. Charis successfully got sunburnt even though it wasn’t even sunny!
On Sunday we had a chill morning and enjoyed the breakfast our host cooked for us (tasty… shout-out to Dora and Dan). After an early lunch we parted ways with Dora and Dan and wished them good luck on the next stage of their adventure in Aus (I’m not jealous…). We were then picked up by our Lovina taxi driver (Lad). He recommended a couple of stops on our way home so we ended up exploring Melanting Temple (I look way better in a sarong) and having a tour of a pearl farm (Classic Bali)!
